Hello, and THANKS FOR READING. My name is Tim Ward, and the name of my solely operated business is Squirrel Hill Dog Service. I am 39 years old, and I have been walking dogs in Frick Park since I was 7, lol, when I would take my family's Britney Spaniel "Rusty" for an off-leash walk after school, back when the dog park was the unfenced grassy bowl behind the baseball field. I work independently, and my service is Personal, Professional, and Small-scale. I specialize in long adventure dog walking hikes in Frick Park (the land I love), with off-leash playtime at the Dog Park or in my parents' backyard. I'm looking to form 2 groups of 5 dogs, the first being an hour walk between 10am and noon, and the second being a 1/2 day afternoon Outdoor Doggie Day Care (walking, dog park, rest). I AM GLADLY ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS Monday-Friday for both groups. I service the neighborhoods of Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze, and Regent Square, in Pittsburgh, PA.
With 13 years of professional experience, I focus on providing long, fast-paced, enriching walks in harnesses, through the streets of Squirrel Hill and the Trails of Frick Park. The dogs and I walk at a brisk pace, with lots of sniffing. I use bungee leashes for pulling, and if a dog is a flight risk I clip a small leash adapter from the harness to the collar to prevent escape, in case a dog were to back out of its harness. This walking technique in harnesses has served me and the dogs well over the years. I also take precautionary measures for dogs who are prone to underarm chaffing, using a Fleece Harness when necessary, as well as flight-risk dogs by looping the leash handle onto my Fanny pack. I am a highly skilled, professional walker, with lots of experience, able to safely walk a pack of 5 friendly dogs.
A TYPICAL DAY WITH SQUIRREL HILL DOG SERVICE
The dogs and I enjoy walking the Gorgeous, Stimulating Streets of Squirrel Hill, with its wide sidewalks, many trees, and dog smells, as well as traversing the Scenic Mountainous Trails of Frick Park on or off leash (depending on the dog). I'm also a proponent of playtime at the Frick Dog Park, which has a beautiful fenced in grass / wooded 3 acre environment. It is the most enriching, expansive dog park within the city limits. I've spent 1000s of hours here and never had a serious problem with other dogs, but recently the dogs and I have been playing more in my parents' backyard. If you would prefer your dog NOT go to the dog park, I can accommodate.
Unlike other walkers, I'll spray the dogs off if they get muddy, and I have no plans of pawning your dog off to an employee. I will also NEVER USE A PRONG COLLAR, HEAD HALTER, or CHOKE CHAIN. The best strategy for walking a pack is to use harnesses and bungee leashes and let them fan out like a sled team. It's easier than one might think.
Now that the cooler weather is here, the dogs and I are really on the move, but in the summer, the dogs and I slow down. Next summer the Day Care dogs and I will rest most of the afternoon in my parents' yard.

I started this business in 2012, at the age of 26, and have been walking Timber my Best Friend for the past 8 years. His owners, Jamie and Eytan Rosenthal, will attest to my character, love of dogs, and incredibly personal service if you would like them as a reference. For the past 4 years, I have been doing Concrete work primarily, while walking dogs part-time, but now I'm looking to walk full-time again, and build the business back up, so any new dogs will be HIGHLY VALUED AND APPRECIATED! I'm not in this for the money, but rather a genuine love for dogs, walking, and the park. I offer Affordable Rates to reflect the heart to heart service I offer, including a one hour walk to Squirrel Hill residents for $17- $20 (depending on the # of days per week and your location), and a 1/2-day daycare for $25 (4 to 5 fun, active hours out of the house, open to residents of Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze, or Regent Square). I'm an incredible dog walker, have a true gift, and I practice self-care in all aspects of my life, from my Organic Diet, 4 hours a day of meditation, to reading, brain games, Bible study, sleep hygiene, prayer, and daily workouts.
