My name is Timothy Ward. I am 27 years old and the sole proprietor of Squirrel Hill Dog Service. I am a professional dog walker that specializes in dog boarding, and I also run a very small doggie day care program. Recently, I have enrolled in a course at Animal Behavior College to become a Certified Dog Trainer.
I have been in business since November of 2012. Although I am relatively new to the dog business, I am not inexperienced. I have been around dogs all my life, and I know how to care for them. In my first year of business, I have boarded around 50 dogs, many of them several times, all with out major incident.
I have taken all the proper steps to legitimize myself. I have an on call vet, a fully renovated house and yard, and I am fully insured as a dog walker and pet sitter by Pet Sitters Associates, LLC.
Currently, I am offering day care service to the following neighborhoods in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: SQUIRREL HILL, POINT BREEZE, and REGENT SQUARE. I board dogs during the week as well as on weekends. I am available on weekends for boarding consultations.
My day care consists of 5 to 6 dogs a day, Monday through Friday. We are the most fit, active dogs in the area, exercising 4 to 6 hours a day. We spend about 2 hours a day at the Frick Dog Park and walk 5 to 10 miles a day on the trails. Sometimes we walk in Schenley Park, and occasionally we go to the South Side Dog Park. As long as the weather is not too hot, we try to stay on the move, except for a nice, long lunch break.
In addition to day care, I also board dogs in a beautiful house I rent off my parents in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh. I adhere to city code when it comes to the number of dogs I can board, so I do not take more than 5 boarding dogs per night. All dogs that I board get lots of love, walks, attention, and care. My life consists of making dogs happy, and I treat all the dogs I care for like my own. All walks are included in my day care and boarding prices. There are no hidden surcharges.
Squirrel Hill Dog Service is owned and operated solely by me. I will not entrust your dog or your home to anyone but myself. My mom helps with the boarding dogs on a limited basis, but I do all the walking myself.
I have a lifetime of experience walking dogs; I grew up with a Brittany and took him to Frick Park as a kid. I currently own a young adult Golden Retriever male named Sunny that I walk or run with every day. He is well behaved and extremely friendly with other dogs. Sunny is my right hand in this business, accompanying me on most walks and bridging the gap between myself and the other dogs.
My main goal is to exercise and socialize your dog in order to create a happier, healthier animal. I will try to curb your dog's behavior in a positive manner. I am working with a dog trainer and gaining more experience about dogs every day.
I know that caring for a dog properly takes more than one person, so I feel that I can be of service to your family. I used a dog walker with Sunny twice a week for the first year of his life, and I feel the group walks and dog park definitely helped him become a more sociable dog.
As your dog walker, I understand that my main priority is to keep your dog safe. I know what a dog means to a family, and I also know that no matter how close I get to your dog, I will never be his owner. For this reason, I will never let a dog off leash while he is entrusted to me, unless we are in the designated off-leash area. With certain dogs, I will allow them to walk off leash in Frick Park if I have the owner's permission.
